A Look-up Table Based Adaptive Reversible Multiplication-free Transform

A look-up table based transform that has the properties of being both reversible and multiplication-free is proposed in this report. While the method can be applied to any arbitrary orthonormal matrix transform, the performance of the RGB to YUV color transform is used to evaluate this approach. The performance is found to be nearly identical to what is achievable by the optimum KLT. In order to show the effectiveness of the adaptive coefficient transform, the performance for a tile based color transform is also presented. As considerably high performance is ahieved, the complexity of the algorithm is still very low, since multiplication during the transform is avoided. Additionally, there is a transmission overhead of coefficients that is set at 96 bits, while 12kB of memory overhead is required for the look-up table.
